Relay For Life is a 24hour community lead event which invites teams to raise fund in the run up to the Relay which will take place. The Relay has a structured programme beginning with an Opening Ceremony, followed closely by the Survivors Lap, where survivors, and carers, are invited to walk the first lap in celebration of themselves and to remind us that, through the dedication of so many, treatments, cures and preventions are being found.

The teams take turns at walking around the track for 24hours. As darkness falls, the Relay draws to a halt for the Candle of Hope ceremony. This is a very poignant ceremony which invites everyone to celebrate survivors and remember those we have lost.

After the ceremony, the Relay begins again, and teams return to the track to walk all through the night, watching the word HOPE turn to CURE as the night goes on. During the day, there is a Gala Day atmosphere with games, stalls, competitions and lots for both teams and spectators to do. On Sunday morning, we will close the proceedings at the Closing Ceremony by announcing the total raised and banked to date ... before the teams head home for a well earned rest!
